MSI has developed an SSD in the form of the Spatium M480 Play. It is a PCI-express 4.0 m.2 Nvme-SSD that achieves a speed of up to 7,000 MB/s. Sony gives as a minimum requirement for its console an SSD with a maximum thickness of 11.25 mm and 5.5 GB/s reading speed. The M480 Play more than meets these requirements and is therefore compatible with the PS5.
The heatsink of the Spatium M480 Play is made of aluminium. Thanks to the heatsink design the heat is well dissipated. The SSD will be available in 500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB capacities. According to the manufacturer, the SSD is NVme version 1.4 compatible.
In addition to the above-mentioned reading speed, the SSD would achieve a sequential write speed of 6,800 MB/s. There is support for PDC ECC and e3e data protection. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty. A price has not yet been announced.
