Oppo Find X5 Series

Oppo launched its new Find X5 flagship series. In total, the series consists of three devices, the Find X5 Lite, the Find X5 and the Find X5 Pro. In this article, we look at the similarities and differences of the devices.

“OPPO Find X5 devices build on the core DNA that made the Find X3 series a hit with consumers and critics alike,” said William Liu, President of Global Marketing at OPPO. “The new Find X5 series takes beauty – both aesthetically and in terms of features – to a whole new level with its modern design, unparalleled camera capabilities, fast battery technology and powerful performance.”

Design

The Oppo Find X5 Pro has curved housing with a ceramic back. The housing is splash, water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating. The device is available in Ceramic White and Glaze Black colours. The Oppo X5 in the colours Black and White has a glass back and is IP54 classified. Both devices have a rounded screen and a camera module with a bevelled bottom, which gives the devices a playful look. The X5 Lite has a flat-screen, a glass back and no official rating for dust or water resistance. This device is available in the colours Starry Black and Startrails Blue.

Camera system

The biggest differences between the devices can be found in the camera system. The Find X5 and Find X5 Pro have the most advanced camera system, with a special chip to enable video recording in the dark. This makes the devices capable of making 4K video recordings in the dark. Both devices also have a five-axis stabilization system to prevent vibrations during your recordings. The X5 Pro has the most advanced camera module with a 50MP main camera (f/1.7), a 50MP wide-angle camera (f/2.2) and a triple 13MP zoom camera (f/2.4). The module of the Find X5 is almost identical to the module of the X5 Pro. Finally, the X5 Lite has a 64MP main camera (f/1.7), an 8MP wide-angle camera (f/2.25) and an 8MP macro camera (f/2.4). All devices have a 32 MP selfie camera, which differs in detail.

Display

All three devices are equipped with an AMOLED screen with extra sturdy glass. With the Lite version, the glass is Gorilla Glass 5 and with the other two devices the improved Gorilla Victus Glass. The Oppo Find X5 Pro has the largest screen with the highest resolution (1,440 x 3,216 pixels) at 6.7 inches. The Find X5 and Find X5 Lite have a 6.55-inch (1,080 x 2,400) display and a 6.43-inch (1,080 x 2,400) display, respectively. The refresh rate of the devices also differs. The Find X5 and X5 Pro can refresh the screen up to 120 times per second for smooth images. The Find X5 Lite can do this 90 times per second. Finally, the touch sampling rate is 240 Hz for the more expensive devices and 180 Hz for the entry-level model. A fingerprint scanner under the screen is present on all devices.

Batteries and Charging Technology

The batteries on the devices differ slightly from each other with a capacity of 4,500 mAh (Lite), 4,800 mAh (regular version) and 5,000 mAh (Pro). Fast charging is of course also possible on the devices with 65W for the Lite version and 80W for the other two devices. With this speed, you can charge the X5 Pro for 50 per cent in 12 minutes. Finally, wireless charging is also possible, except on the Lite variant. The X5 Pro can charge wirelessly with 50W and the Find X5 with 35W. With 50W you can fully charge a device in 47 minutes.

Processor and Stoarge

All three devices have a generous 256 GB storage space. This is supported by the X5 Pro with 12 GB of RAM, the other two devices have to make do with 8 GB of RAM. All three devices have different processors. The Lite version runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 900, a mid-range processor. The Find X5 (SD 888) and the Find X5 Pro (SD 8 Gen 1) run on an 8th generation Qualcomm processor. The devices also support (of course) 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth and NFC.

Operating system

The complete series runs on Android 12 supplemented with ColorOS 12.1. According to Oppo, this ColorOS version offers the most intuitive and personal experience ever. Combined with Google’s Android 12 operating system, it delivers enjoyable experiences and industry-leading privacy features. At the same time, you have full access to the Google Play Store and its more than 3 million apps. ColorOS can be completely adjusted to your taste on many points

Prices & Availability

The OPPO Find X5 Series will be for sale in the Netherlands from March 11, 2022. The suggested retail price of the Find X5 Pro is 1,299 euros, the Find X5 999 euros and the Find X5 Lite 499 euros. Until April 4, you will receive a maximum of 400 euros worth of gadgets when purchasing a device from the X5 series.

Conclusion

The Oppo Find X5 and X5 Pro are very close in terms of specifications. The Pro has a slightly larger battery, more RAM, a new processor and a slightly larger screen. Wireless fast charging is also faster on the X5 Pro. The price difference of 300 euros makes the Find X5 a more interesting choice because the differences are limited. The Find X5 Lite can rightly be called a stripped-down version of the Find X5. This device is less than the X5 on all fronts and can be labelled as a high-end middle class.
