WhatsApp for iOS gets Face ID and Touch ID Authentication Features

WhatsApp has a software update that, although small, will be useful to secure conversations from other people’s intents, namely the fingerprint authentication function.

So far, the function can only be used with the Touch ID feature on iOS devices. The feature can be toggled by updating to the latest version, 2.19.20, from the Apple App Store.

To activate the feature, visit Settings  > Account  > Privacy and activate Screen Lock. If Screen Lock has been activated, every time you open WhatsApp, this application will ask for Touch ID or Face ID (face authentication already exists first on WhatsApp iOS beta tester).

If you have provided one of the authentication conditions (Face ID with face or Touch ID with fingerprint), then you can access WhatsApp. For those who often use WhatsApp, this additional security feature might be a little annoying. But some people might need it to be safer.

There is one more thing that needs to be known, that even though the Screen Lock is enabled, we can still see WhatsApp notifications if the message preview feature is activated. In addition, we can still use the quick reply feature in iOS without using the Face ID or Touch ID when the Screen Lock works.

Whatsapp is not yet known when this function was officially released and expanded to Android, at least WhatsApp beta for Android.
