Remedy Entertainment has officially announced Control: Resonant, the much-awaited sequel to the award-winning 2019 game Control. The new title will continue the main storyline and is set eight years after the events of the first game, expanding the mysterious paranormal universe that fans have loved since launch.
In Control: Resonant, Jesse Faden is revealed to have successfully saved the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) and sealed the quarantine to prevent future extradimensional invasions. She also managed to keep her brother Dylan safe, who remained in a coma throughout the events of the original game. However, peace does not last. Jesse suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances, and supernatural threats begin to spread across Manhattan, throwing the world back into chaos.
With no other option, the FBC awakens Dylan Faden, making him the central figure in the fight against the new invasion. This marks a major shift for the franchise, as Dylan becomes the primary playable character, continuing the overarching narrative about the bond between brother and sister. Remedy confirms that the sequel will explore Dylan’s psychological journey, powers, and personal evolution more deeply than ever before.

The game’s world will be significantly larger, but Remedy emphasizes that size is not the priority—detail, atmosphere, and storytelling are. Every major location will feature its own standalone narrative, consistent with Remedy’s design philosophy. Side quests will no longer be isolated; instead, they will weave directly into the main storyline, enhancing immersion and emotional depth.
One of the biggest transformations in Control: Resonant is the shift in genre. The sequel will not be a pure action-adventure game; instead, it becomes a full-fledged action RPG. Dylan will unlock stronger paranormal abilities, face off against new and more dangerous enemies—including giant extradimensional creatures—and interact with deepened progression systems. His primary weapon will also be able to transform into multiple melee forms, such as a massive hammer, twin blades, and other mystical constructs. This evolution promises richer combat and greater player freedom.
The supernatural environments in Manhattan will continue Remedy’s signature approach: bending reality, shifting architecture, and surreal spatial distortions. This ensures that the sequel maintains the eerie, atmospheric tone that defined the first game while introducing fresh gameplay mechanics and expanded exploration opportunities.
Control: Resonant is scheduled to launch next year on:
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC (Steam & Epic Games Store)
- Mac
- PlayStation 5
Powered by next-gen technology, the game will feature improved physics, enhanced visual fidelity, and more dynamic world interactions.
With deeper narrative layers, a new protagonist, and full RPG design, Control: Resonant aims to deliver the most ambitious and immersive experience in the franchise. Fans of paranormal action games and Remedy’s storytelling style have plenty to look forward to when the sequel arrives.
