Apple has introduced the second-generation AirTag in India at the same price as its predecessor, with the new item tracker priced at ₹3,790 for a single unit and ₹12,900 for a pack of four. The AirTag 2 will go on sale later this week through Apple’s online store, Apple Store app, offline Apple Store locations, and Apple Authorised Resellers across the country. The new AirTag brings several improvements focused on better range, louder alerts, and enhanced tracking accuracy. It is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the same technology used in the iPhone 17 lineup and the latest Apple Watch models. This allows Precision Finding to guide users to their lost items from up to 50 percent farther away than the previous generation. Using a combination of haptic feedback, on-screen visual cues, and audio signals, users can locate items such as keys, wallets, backpacks, and luggage more quickly and accurately.

Apple has also upgraded the Bluetooth chip in the new AirTag, increasing the detection range when items are nearby. Alongside this, the internal speaker has been redesigned to be 50 percent louder, enabling users to hear alerts from up to twice the distance compared to the earlier model. A new and more distinctive chime further improves the chances of finding items that may be hidden inside bags, under furniture, or in noisy environments.
For the first time, Precision Finding is available on Apple Watch, allowing users to locate their AirTag directly from their wrist. This feature is supported on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, provided the device is running watchOS 26.2.1 or newer. When an AirTag moves out of Bluetooth range of its paired iPhone, Apple’s Find My network helps locate it by securely and anonymously relaying its approximate location using nearby Apple devices.
The AirTag 2 also integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature that allows users to temporarily share the location of a misplaced item with trusted third parties such as airlines. Apple has partnered with more than 50 airlines globally, helping reduce baggage delays and cases of permanently lost luggage. Shared access is secure, can be stopped at any time, and automatically expires after seven days.
Designed with privacy in mind, AirTag does not store location history on the device and uses end-to-end encryption to protect user data. The new AirTag requires a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or later, along with an Apple Account and Find My enabled.
